Red Fort Blast: Pulwama House of Terrorist Umar Mohammad Demolished
Red Fort Blast: Security forces have demolished the house of terrorist Umar Mohammad, the mastermind behind the car bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on 10 November. The demolition took place in Pulwama, where Umar lived with his family. Police had been questioning his relatives continuously as part of the investigation.
How the Terrorist Was Identified
The identity of the terrorist who drove the explosive-laden car was confirmed through DNA analysis. A piece of Umar’s foot was found near the steering wheel of the damaged i20 car after the explosion. Forensic testing showed a DNA match between the body part and his mother, confirming that Umar Mohammad, also known as Umar-ul-Nabi, was the one who carried out the attack.
Investigators also recovered multiple videos showing Umar crossing the Faridabad border and visiting a mosque shortly before the blast.
Arrests and Background of the Case
Just before the Delhi blast, Haryana Police had arrested two individuals—Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Shaheen—from Faridabad. Large quantities of explosives were recovered from several of their hideouts.
The police were actively searching for a third suspect, Dr. Umar, but he executed the attack before he could be captured. So far, more than 10 people have been arrested in connection with the blast.
Explosives Purchased for Lakhs of Rupees
According to investigators, Dr. Muzammil, Dr. Adeel, and Shaheen collected around ₹20 lakh, which was handed over to Umar. Reports suggest that Umar and Muzammil had disagreements over money distribution.
The group later purchased several quintals of NPK fertilizer worth approximately ₹3 lakh from Gurugram, Nuh, and nearby regions. This fertilizer was used to prepare the IED that caused the blast.
Sources also revealed that Umar created a private group on the Signal messaging app for 2–4 members involved in the plot.
The Deadly Delhi Blast
The explosion occurred at a time when the Red Fort area was experiencing heavy traffic. The blast inside Umar’s vehicle triggered a chain reaction, damaging several nearby cars.
The attack resulted in more than 10 fatalities, marking one of the deadliest terror incidents in recent years in the capital.
