Political strategist-turned-leader Prashant Kishor has made a striking prediction about his newly formed Jan Suraaj Party ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Speaking at a recent NDTV event focused on Bihar’s political landscape, Kishor said his party could either win less than 10 seats or cross the 150-seat mark, leaving little room for a middle ground.
Kishor, known for his political acumen and campaign strategies that shaped the rise of several leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, and his collaborations with TMC, DMK, and Congress, has now stepped into the electoral battlefield himself — this time to build a people’s movement in Bihar.
“Either Under 10 or Over 150 Seats” — Prashant Kishor’s Prediction
When asked how many seats Jan Suraaj could secure in its debut election, Kishor responded candidly: “Leaders usually claim they’re winning, but I see two probabilities. People have started viewing Jan Suraaj as an alternative, but voting for change requires a leap of faith. After years of hopelessness, that leap is what will decide whether we win under 10 seats or cross 150.”
Kishor emphasized that Jan Suraaj represents not just a new political party but a citizen-led movement built on years of grassroots engagement. His prediction reflects the uncertainty and volatility of Bihar’s political landscape, where traditional alliances may face new challenges.
A Journey From Strategist to Political Reformer
Prashant Kishor launched Jan Suraaj Party last year, exactly two years after completing a 3,000-km-long padayatra across Bihar. The march aimed to understand the ground realities, engage with people, and develop a vision based on governance, education, health, and employment reforms.
Drawing from his experiences as one of India’s most successful election strategists, Kishor said his current mission is not to advise leaders but to create leaders.
“We are making contenders contest polls. The only difference is that we have created a new formation to execute this. If you look at the 2014 Modi campaign — it was also a new format where a CM became a national leader. There’s not much difference,” he explained.
Kishor Rules Out Contesting Any Seat
Addressing speculation about his own electoral ambitions, Kishor clarified that he will not contest in the upcoming polls.
“I never declared that I would contest even one seat. I said if I were to contest, it would be from Kargahar. But I am not the X-factor here,” he said.
Kishor further asserted that the main contest in Bihar will be between the NDA and Jan Suraaj, predicting that the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) will likely finish in third place.
Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Key Dates
The Bihar Assembly Election for the 243 seats will be conducted in two phases —
-
Phase 1: November 6, 2025
-
Phase 2: November 11, 2025
The results will be declared on November 14, 2025.
Political observers say that Kishor’s party could reshape Bihar’s traditional power equations if his campaign connects with the youth and first-time voters.
