Bihar Elections 2025: NDA Likely to Announce Seat-Sharing Pact Today; JD(U) to Lead Alliance

Bihar Elections 2025: Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 LIVE Updates: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), is expected to formally announce its seat-sharing formula today (Sunday).

NDA’s Seat-Sharing Formula Expected Today

After several rounds of meetings and intense discussions in New Delhi, top NDA leaders — including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda — have reportedly given the final nod to the seat-sharing pact ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

According to sources, JD(U), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will likely lead the alliance and contest on 101 to 102 seats, while the BJP will contest on one seat less than JD(U).

Meanwhile, Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) may contest on 26 seats, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM-S) on 7 seats, and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) on 6 seats.

If this seat-sharing plan is confirmed, it will mark a balanced power arrangement within the NDA, setting the stage for a tough electoral battle in Bihar.

Mahagathbandhan Yet to Finalize Seat Distribution

While the NDA seems to have nearly finalized its formula, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) — which includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, Left parties, and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) — is still struggling to reach a consensus.

Despite multiple meetings, no final seat-sharing formula has been announced yet. With the nomination process for the first phase already underway, the Grand Alliance partners are under pressure to finalize their lists and announce their candidates soon.

Lalu and Tejashwi in Delhi for Strategic Discussions

Sources also confirmed that RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav are currently in New Delhi for crucial strategy meetings regarding seat allocations and campaign planning. The duo is expected to meet Congress leaders to iron out differences and finalize seat distribution within the alliance.

What’s Next in Bihar Elections 2025

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has already released the schedule for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, which will be held in multiple phases. With the political temperature rising, both alliances — NDA and Mahagathbandhan — are gearing up to finalize candidates and begin their statewide campaigns.

The finalization of the NDA seat-sharing pact today could mark a major turning point in Bihar’s pre-election political landscape, signaling the beginning of an intense and high-stakes contest between Nitish Kumar-led NDA and the Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan.
